The long awaited photo
A number of enquiries have been received about my equipment. Well here in all its glory is my standard handheld combo - the 1D mk III and the 400mm f4 DO IS lens with a 1.4x TC. I know The Phiz is yawning already. I'm sure she has seen better, many times. But this is the outfit that gets the birds in flight.

Gosh, that looks heavy.
It is actually not too bad provided you hold it correctly and grip the body with one hand and support the end of the lens with the other. Its a lot better than trying to handhold the 500mm f4 IS lens, which I can't! That's a tripod job. The best lens for sharpness is the 300mm f2.8, which can be handheld and is very, very fast.
I am sure the Phiz's mouth is watering at the size of your equipment, Drew.
I'm certainly impressed with your, um, lens. Especially since I've seen what you can dooooooo with it.
